Panhelo Batti Muni is the shining star of Today’s Nepali Music with tones of yesterdays and words filled with the feelings that never dies. The tune are mix of folk and pop which results in unique tune of their songs. Though the band name deprives from the dark days of load shedding of Nepal, the band Panhelo Batti Muni is successful band that has been en-lighting the hearts of Nepalese with their beautifully composed music and creatively expressible lyrics.
“Those were the days when load shedding was a regular thing in Kathmandu valley. We used to light a candle on top of a cupboard and practice. That almost became our daily ritual and so we decided to keep the name of our band ‘Pahenlo Batti Muni’ meaning under the yellow light”
Rochak Dahal along with his friend Pravesh Thapa Magar used to practice at each other’s house before forming their band. “Those were the days when load shedding was a regular thing in Kathmandu valley. We used to light a candle on top of a cupboard and practice. That almost became our daily ritual and so we decided to keep the name of our band ‘Pahenlo Batti Muni’ meaning under the yellow light,” said Dahal to MyRepublica.
This band has five members who have different musical inclinations. “Some of us are interested in rock music, others are inclined towards progressive or folk music. So our band performs a mixed variety of songs,” he said.
At the festival, Pahenlo Batti Muni performed songs that talk about love affairs, lullabies, and rock based songs among other types of music. “We enjoy performing on stage and will give our best at the music festival,” concluded Dahal before performance.
Song “Lori” & “Bari Lai” are vastly loved by the people all over. As they loudly express the inner emotions of most people. The views and positive comments are the proofs the Modern people are highly appreciating tune of Nepali music with traditional instruments in priorities.
